THE NON FLUFF EMOTIONAL STUFF™
As the year begins to wind down, there’s a quiet little pause that happens — almost like life itself takes a deep breath. And in that pause, we’re gifted a moment to look back, honour what’s happened, and choose who we want to become next.
But here’s the truth I’ve learned over the years:
Reflection isn’t about reliving the past. It’s about understanding it, releasing what no longer serves you, and realigning with what truly matters.
So now the rush of Christmas has past let’s carve a little space to check in.
We often celebrate the big wins — promotions, milestones, new habits.
But real emotional growth? It happens in the micro-moments:
The time you spoke kindly to yourself instead of spiralling.
The moment you said “no” because you finally recognised your worth.
The day you rested without guilt.
These are victories of the heart.
Take a moment to acknowledge them.
Journal prompt:
“How have I grown emotionally, mentally, or spiritually this year?”
By this point in the year, we’re often holding more than we realise — unmade decisions, old stories, built-up stress, unfinished conversations.
Before stepping into the new year, ask yourself:
What am I ready to put down?
Sometimes it’s a belief.
Sometimes it’s a habit.
Sometimes it’s an expectation you’ve outgrown.
Reflection prompt:
“If I allowed myself to release one thing right now, what would feel the lightest?”
December can be noisy — busy, emotional, demanding.
But you get to choose how you experience it.
Let this be the year you trade:
perfection for presence
rushing for grounding
over-committing for honouring your energy
You’re allowed to finish the year softly.
Instead of waiting for January to think about your intentions, start now.
Tune in:
What mattered to you this year that you want to carry forward? What didn’t?
Let your end-of-year be a recalibration.
Journal prompt:
“What parts of myself felt most alive this year? What does that tell me about my path forward?”
As you close out this year, I hope you give yourself the tenderness you deserve. You’ve navigated challenges, grown in ways you may not even realise yet, and shown up for your life the best way you could. That is enough.
Let this season be a soft landing — a moment to pause, honour, release, and realign.
And remember: every ending is really a gentle invitation into a new beginning.
It’s never too late for a lane change. Insite Mind is the brainchild of one woman who after a decade spinning in the hamster wheel of the accounting world gave it up to live out her heart work. But it didn’t come without challenge and a little nudge from the universe in the form of a book Dealing with Difficult People. Upon opening it Alisa was surprised to find in black and white text “maybe it’s you”. So after several ego deaths and many personal development books along the way Alisa Pettit found her way to coaching. Now a fully fledged positive mindset coach and personal mastery guru Ali’s work helps people find their way through mindset teachings.
