THE NON FLUFF EMOTIONAL STUFF™
Have you ever noticed how the questions you ask yourself shape the way you feel?
When something goes wrong, many of us automatically ask:
“Why does this always happen to me?”
“What’s wrong with me?”
“Why can’t I get it together?”
And while those questions may feel automatic, they also direct our focus toward frustration, self-criticism, and helplessness.
But here’s something powerful to remember:
The quality of your life is often shaped by the quality of the questions you ask yourself.
Because your brain will always search for answers to the questions you give it.
When you ask:
❌ “Why am I so bad at this?”
Your brain starts collecting evidence to support that belief.
But when you ask:
✨ “What can I learn from this?”
✨ “What’s one small step I can take?”
✨ “How can I respond differently next time?”
Your brain begins searching for growth, solutions, and possibility instead.
Questions are powerful because they direct your attention.
And where your attention goes… your energy follows.
Many of us have spent years asking ourselves harsh, reactive questions without even realising it.
Questions rooted in:
Fear
Shame
Perfectionism
Self-doubt
But self-management is about becoming intentional.
It’s learning to pause and ask questions that support growth instead of reinforcing limitation.
Not:
❌ “Why am I failing?”
But:
➡️ “What support do I need right now?”
Not:
❌ “What’s wrong with me?”
But:
➡️ “What’s this experience teaching me?”
One of the most powerful habits you can develop is a daily self-check.
A moment to pause, reflect, and reconnect with the version of yourself you want to be.
Try asking yourself questions like:
Am I being my highest self right now?
Is my behaviour aligned with my values?
How do I want to show up today?
What energy am I bringing into this situation?
What’s one thing I can do to support myself today?
Am I reacting… or responding intentionally?
These questions create awareness.
And awareness is where change begins.
Imagine your mind like a GPS.
If you keep entering negative, fear-based questions, your thoughts will continue travelling in that direction.
But when you begin asking grounded, intentional questions, you start guiding your mindset toward growth, calm, and emotional intelligence.
The goal isn’t perfection.
It’s conscious direction.
Before reaching for your phone tomorrow morning, pause and ask yourself:
✨ “How do I want to feel today?”
✨ “Who do I want to be today?”
✨ “What would my highest self focus on?”
Notice how different your day feels when you begin with intention instead of autopilot.
At the end of the day, ask yourself:
What did I do well today?
Where did I respond intentionally?
What could I improve tomorrow — without judgement?
This isn’t about criticising yourself.
It’s about building self-awareness with compassion.
The questions you ask daily quietly shape:
Your mindset
Your emotions
Your habits
Your relationships
Your identity
So choose questions that move you toward growth — not away from it.
Because sometimes the most powerful shift doesn’t come from changing your circumstances…
It comes from changing the question.
💫 At Insite Mind, we believe self-awareness begins with curiosity. When you learn to ask yourself better questions, you create better emotional habits, clearer thinking, and a more intentional life.
It’s never too late for a lane change. Insite Mind is the brainchild of one woman who after a decade spinning in the hamster wheel of the accounting world gave it up to live out her heart work. But it didn’t come without challenge and a little nudge from the universe in the form of a book Dealing with Difficult People. Upon opening it Alisa was surprised to find in black and white text “maybe it’s you”. So after several ego deaths and many personal development books along the way Alisa Pettit found her way to coaching. Now a fully fledged positive mindset coach and personal mastery guru Ali’s work helps people find their way through mindset teachings.
