THE NON FLUFF EMOTIONAL STUFF™
If Part 1 of this series was about the emotions that let us know when we’re off track, this chapter is the sweet, delicious flip side — the emotions that tell us when we’re exactly where we’re meant to be.
These are the Allowing Emotions.
They’re the YES moments of life. The flow state. The feelings that say:
“What you’re thinking and doing is a match to who you truly are.”
Allowing emotions aren’t just “feeling happy.” They’re the deep, aligned states that affirm we are in harmony with our desires and the truth of our being. They’re the reward for the inner work we do — the proof that deliberate thinking and emotional intelligence pay off.
To allow is to permit something to happen without resistance. It means we stop blocking, pushing, or over-managing life. We get out of our own way.
When we’re in this state, we trust the process, let go of the “how,” and feel at ease knowing that life is unfolding beautifully — even if we can’t yet see the full picture.
Think of it like a river: when you’re resisting, you’re swimming upstream, exhausted. When you’re allowing, you’re floating with the current, letting it carry you toward exactly where you need to be.
Allowing emotions are in alignment with your goals, your purpose, and your natural state of being. They are affirmations in emotional form.
And here’s a beautiful truth:
Your natural default emotion is Love. It’s the highest vibration on the emotional scale.
When you’re stuck in guilt, blame, or fear, it’s like stretching a rubber band away from that natural state. It takes effort and it feels tense. But as you practice helpful thinking, you snap back to love more easily and more often — just like strengthening a muscle or improving your flexibility over time.
These are the calm, grounded states that say, “I’ve got this.”
They feel light, spacious, and steady — no drama, just certainty.
Examples:
• Hope – Looking forward positively, but with a touch of doubt.
• Optimism – A general good feeling about what’s ahead.
• Positive Expectation – Knowing something wonderful is coming, even if you don’t know what.
• Belief – Unshakable certainty, even without physical evidence.
Helpful Thoughts:
• I trust in the process of life.
• Something amazing is going to happen to me today.
• I have the power to change anything I want in my life.
Body Sensations: Easy breathing, lightness, gentle warmth.
Behaviour: Calm, relaxed, ready to deal with whatever comes.
These are the high-energy, heart-bursting states that make you want to hug the world.
Examples:
• Enthusiasm – Pure, self-fueled excitement.
• Eagerness – Can’t wait for what’s next — no matter what it is.
• Freedom – Feeling limitless; breathing is deep and easy.
• Passion – You’re in flow, time disappears.
• Appreciation – Seeing beauty and perfection in everything.
• Love – The electric connection to life itself. Everything feels effortless.
Helpful Thoughts:
• All that I need comes to me at the right time and place.
• I am filled with joy for everything I am and everything I have.
• I trust in the process of life.
Body Sensations: Tingling, warmth, openness, lightness.
Behaviour: Hugging, sharing, connecting, expressing love.
It’s important to remember:
We will never eliminate negative emotions — and we wouldn’t want to. They are vital feedback. But with practice, we can bounce back to the allowing states more quickly.
Here’s a Move Your Mood Exercise you can use anytime:
1. Check in on the Emotional Scale – Keep it somewhere visible.
2. Identify your emotion – If you’re unsure, start by elimination: Do you feel sad, mad, or scared?
3. Acknowledge it – Feel it without attaching to it.
4. Notice your direction – Are you moving up or down the scale?
5. Spot unhelpful thoughts – Call them out.
6. Choose helpful thoughts – Repeat them to yourself with feeling.
7. Check for relief – Even one small shift upward is progress.
8. Repeat – Keep climbing until you feel lighter.
Allowing emotions are not just “nice to have” — they are our natural state. The more we strengthen our emotional intelligence, the faster we return to them, no matter what life throws at us.
Love is where you began. Love is where you belong.
And every allowing emotion is simply a path back home to that truth.
It’s never too late for a lane change. Insite Mind is the brainchild of one woman who after a decade spinning in the hamster wheel of the accounting world gave it up to live out her heart work. But it didn’t come without challenge and a little nudge from the universe in the form of a book Dealing with Difficult People. Upon opening it Alisa was surprised to find in black and white text “maybe it’s you”. So after several ego deaths and many personal development books along the way Alisa Pettit found her way to coaching. Now a fully fledged positive mindset coach and personal mastery guru Ali’s work helps people find their way through mindset teachings.
