THE NON FLUFF EMOTIONAL STUFF™
If there’s one thing every human being has in common, it’s this:
Life changes.
Relationships change.
Seasons change.
Careers change.
Our circumstances change.
And perhaps most importantly… we change.
Yet despite change being one of the few certainties in life, many of us resist it with everything we’ve got.
We cling to what’s familiar.
We fear the unknown.
We try to stay where things feel safe and predictable.
But here’s the truth:
Growth and comfort rarely exist in the same space.
Imagine an acorn.
Small. Safe. Contained.
If the acorn could think, it might believe staying exactly as it is would protect it. After all, transformation requires breaking open.
But the acorn was never created to remain an acorn.
It was created to become an oak tree.
Strong. Expansive. Grounded.
And the only way that transformation can happen…
is through change.
The same is true for us.
Sometimes the very thing we’re resisting is the thing trying to grow us.
Change can feel uncomfortable because it often comes with:
Uncertainty
Loss of control
Fear of failure
Fear of judgement
Letting go of what’s familiar
Even positive change can feel overwhelming.
Our brains naturally prefer certainty and predictability because it feels safe.
But staying where we are simply because it’s familiar can quietly keep us stuck.
When we resist change, we often:
Stay in situations that no longer serve us
Ignore opportunities for growth
Hold onto old versions of ourselves
Avoid discomfort at the expense of expansion
Resistance creates tension.
We feel torn between who we are… and who we’re becoming.
And often, exhaustion comes not from the change itself — but from fighting against it.
One of the biggest misconceptions about surrender is that it means weakness or quitting.
But surrendering to change doesn’t mean giving up.
It means accepting that life is moving… and choosing to move with it instead of against it.
It’s saying:
✨ “I may not have all the answers yet.”
✨ “This feels uncomfortable.”
✨ “But I trust there is growth here.”
Surrender creates space.
And in that space, transformation begins.
Think about every meaningful transformation in nature.
A seed breaks open.
A caterpillar dissolves inside the cocoon.
Trees lose their leaves before new growth appears.
Transformation is rarely neat and comfortable.
And neither is personal growth.
Sometimes growth looks like:
Outgrowing old patterns
Setting boundaries
Changing direction
Letting go of relationships
Becoming someone unfamiliar to yourself
But unfamiliar doesn’t mean wrong.
It often means you’re evolving.
Take a moment to ask yourself:
What change am I currently resisting?
What feels scary about it?
What might become possible if I stopped fighting it?
You don’t need to rush the process.
Growth unfolds in its own timing.
But awareness is the first step.
Just like the acorn was never meant to stay small, you were never meant to stay stuck in the same version of yourself forever.
Life will continue to change.
The question is:
Will you resist it… or allow it to shape you into something stronger, wiser, and more aligned?
Because often, the hardest seasons are not here to break us.
They are here to grow us.
💫 At Insite Mind, we believe change isn’t something to fear — it’s something to move through with awareness, courage, and trust. Growth begins the moment we stop resisting who we’re becoming.
It’s never too late for a lane change. Insite Mind is the brainchild of one woman who after a decade spinning in the hamster wheel of the accounting world gave it up to live out her heart work. But it didn’t come without challenge and a little nudge from the universe in the form of a book Dealing with Difficult People. Upon opening it Alisa was surprised to find in black and white text “maybe it’s you”. So after several ego deaths and many personal development books along the way Alisa Pettit found her way to coaching. Now a fully fledged positive mindset coach and personal mastery guru Ali’s work helps people find their way through mindset teachings.
